Dark, suspenseful, a bit of romance and lots of action. Following on the heels of Beating Ruby, Crystal Whisperer starts off with a bang. Island and Mr. November can't seem to catch a break as their lives move on. This book takes their chases and travels from South Africa to Venice, Croatia and French Polynesia. Island somehow continues to find herself in trouble and March is always there to rescue her. I did find the beginning of the book a little dis-engaging despite the action, but was soon looking forward to each page. The ending left at a major cliff hanger so looking forward to the final installment.

    Absolute a good way!

With a unique voice all her own, Monk’s Spotless series is hard to place into a single genre. Monk refuses to fit in the box that is one specific genre as she masterfully weaves a story that is both action packed and romantic with a bit of suspense to round it all out. Crystal Whisperer is definitely not a standalone book as the reader will have missed a plethora of plot from the previous novels in the series. While Monk does a good job at filling in the reader, it just doesn’t compare with reading books 1 & 2 first. Not only that, but each book is an amazing adventure all their own. That being said, prepare to be stressed out. Not only does this novel end on a hair-pulling cliff hanger, Monk is an expert at teasing her audience into thinking we are getting what we want, when in reality the author is going in a completely new direction we didn’t even expect. Not only does it keep the reader on their toes, it makes us that much hungry for more. If I didn’t know any better, I would say Monk is trained in the art of torture. A splendid writer with unique voice and even more unique story to tell, Monk and her Spotless series are a treasure you shouldn’t pass up.
