    Just Okay

This book held my interest but I did skim some of what I considered extraneous, too long descriptions. The references to feminism by a secondary female character were humourously ironic and well handled. The main character, Geraldine, wasn't particularly interesting - a typical conscientious, intelligent, obsessive detective but aside from having been recently jilted, she didn't have a compelling back story or any quirks that might have distinguished her from a myriad of other fictional detectives or people in general. I felt some of the plot twists paid homage to Ruth Rendell mysteries but again, the prose was nowhere near as concise and compelling as Rendell's. Good effort tho!
