    Thanks for your feedback!

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It was nicely paced and very descriptive of the poverty and hopelessness of the Missing Hospital. I will tell your readers that it would be helpful to have a medical background to fully appreciate the hospital scenes and the tempermental Dr. Stone, the lovely Sister Mary Joseph Praise and Matron, who ran the hospital with an iron fist. I am a nurse and found my heart racing and the pages turning fast as Verghese so aptly describes the poverty and "make do" attitude of this hospital in Africa. I will say that, for me, the story got a bit bogged down in the parts that described the political struggles of the region, but that is not to say that they are not integral in understanding Marion's perilous flight to the U.S. Once in the States the brilliant Marion finds himself working long and seemingly endless hours at another poverty stricken hospital with deprivation not unlike Missing Hospital. Verghese was very successful at describing the painful reunion of Marion and his estranged father, the demanding Dr. Stone. The description of their sad and strained relationship was very believable and held my attention throughout. I highly recommend this book....a great read. Deb L.
