    More murder in smalltown America

As always, Sandford has delivered another fast moving crimefest on the open plains of Minnesota. This time, Virgil sets out to help the local cops solve a double murder and arrives in time to watch the local rich guy's mansion burn to the ground. Before the link is made between the two events he's sleeping with the sheriff's sister and wondering who's killing the town's elderly, prominent citizens. The red herrings seem to come thick and fast until Virgil realizes that the more strings he pulls, the more knots he finds, and some of those knots were tied a very long time ago. I could have done without another meth lab in America's bread basket, but nobody writes a cataclysmic shootout as well as Sandford. Virgil's stories are becoming a bit formulaic, but he's still a likeable character.

    Dark of the Moon

Loved the setting in a small town, where most people watch out for each other. Or are they watching You? Loved the twists.

    Dark Moon

A great Virgil Flowers book. He never fails to entertain me. He sucks everyone in until it's time to put the hammer down. Then wham.
