Slow to start, but shows promise!

I was reluctant to continue the KGI series. I didn’t like the last two book and was worried I’d have to close the book—so to speak—on a series that has such promise. I must say though that I was pleasantly surprised with Hancock’s book. Hancock has been the anti-hero throughout the series, often a thorn in the side of the Kelly Brothers’ organization. However, there’ve been a few instances when Hancock has jeopardized his own mission in order to save innocent lives. Hancock is more machine than man and it was interesting to see his veneer crack unearthing the good man he might have been. The heroine, Honor, does her name justice. She’s smart, strong, selfless and Hancock’s match in every way. Unfortunately, as with any KGI book, bad things happen and Honor suffers greatly most of the story. Some parts were difficult for me to read, partly because of the graphic content. When reading DARKEST BEFORE DAWN, I noticed that Ms. Banks’ writing style has matured. Not so much that her voice is lost, but enough to show a depth that helped me connect to the author and the story. I thought the book was well-written and despite a few scenes I had some personal issues with, Hancock’s story is spot on. I really enjoyed it and I’m hopeful for the next book in the series. ***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

One of the best kgi ever written can't wait for the next one. Maya is an amazing author that just keeps getting better. Can't wait for Joe's story.

    Not Maya's best work

I have loved every other book I have read by Maya, but I honestly couldn't get interested in this book and it toook ages for the KGI family to come into the story and that is the only reason I continued to read the book

    Anticipated, No Disappointment

Long awaited book about an awesome character! Maya Banks did not disappoint me. Can't wait for the next KGI installment.
