    Day of Atonement

This is the fourth Decker/Lazarus novel I've read, each one better than the one before. I have enjoyed reading Decker's growing education in his ethnic culture and religion. The police procedures in finding a runaway child were interesting and heartbreaking as, in many cases, the destructive effects of victimizing the child by the abductor is revealed. The love and compassion of Decker's two families have a powerful effect on the heart.
