  • Entertaining First in Series, Recommend Reading

Selena is picking up the pieces of her life. She is having a bad day at her job, when she waits on a customer. The customer tells her she is her Aunt Blair, she would love it if Selena came to work for her. Selena never heard of her, decides to talk to her best friend Jadis. Selena calls her Aunt and if she is ok with Jadis coming with her, she will give it a try. Her Aunt is more than happy that she is bringing a friend. Selena gets a wake up call about her family and apparently she has magic. They get to the her aunt's bed and breakfast, they find out someone is missing. Selena got a vision of a room that doesn't exist. The person that is responsible is still there and they have to figure it out before more disappearances happen. I found this first book in this series to be entertaining, great characters that are introduced. Selena coming into her magic, finding her footing in the new world she is in. Can't wait to see what else is going to happen for Selena and the others. The pace of the book was at a great pace, you didn't know who was responsible until the end of the book. You will enjoy diving in this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Sometimes change is a good thing

Struggling with a dead end job and losing faith, a young woman is given an offer that seems too good to be true...as well as a bit scary. A fantastic paranormal cozy that takes trusting a stranger to a whole new level. Fantastic story! Loved every minute of it! • Has Potential

Selena is estranged from her parents, both are doctors and disappointed when Selena knows that nursing school is not for her and she needs to follow her heart and be happy her parents have cut her out of their lives Moving to Denver she is now working in a coffee shop. Selena is struggling she is not enjoying her job, though the one bright side is her friend Jadis who she works and lives with in a shared house. On a particularly bad day when she is really struggling and feeling low, an eccentric woman enters the coffee shop claiming to be Selena's Aunt Blair. But that's impossible, Selena has no family her parents have no siblings, there had been an Uncle Bob, but he had died when Selena was a baby. Blair does know things that give Selena pause for thought, She asks Selena to come work for her at her B & B "Kindred Spirits" she has till Sunday morning to make the decision Selena talks with Jadis who consults her Tarot cards, she encourages Selena to take the risk and go for it, and she will come with her, so Selena makes the phone call.....and so the adventure begins. "Kindred Spirits" is not just any B&B in any old town in the mountains, no it is a paranormal B&B where the builder is a Dwarf who keeps a penthouse suite for himself, the building itself has a mind of its own and no-one is what or who they appear to be! Selena has never felt more at home! Magic is real and she and Jadis are part of it! On the first night, at the first meal (cooked by Kindred Spirits very own vegetarian Head chef Vampire Emile), Aunt Kiki raises her concern that the housekeeper a brownie called Feal is missing. When they set out to search for her things begin to happen and there are some interesting results I am glad Lily Webb decided to leave Moon Grove for now, Zoe was beginning to get a bit stale so this is a bit of a breath of fresh air. some of the new characters are excellent, I love the imps Lox and Keez with their permanent tied tales and their own little secrets I think they will bring a lot of mischief to this new series Though there are parts of the book I enjoyed this there are some things that missed the mark for me, the fact the girls just "accepted" everything that happens, and I am not just talking about the magic that they suddenly learn is true.. Some of the characters are perhaps a little too "woke" and miss the mark, there are so many things happening that is just accepted, I know this is fiction but the reactions are just not genuine and there are parts of the story that I struggled with, for example, how do you search for a person you have never met, nevermind a whole new species that the day before you did not even know existed and not ask for a description of what they look like? Not only that but how DO you search a building that you have only spent one night in on your own? Then there is Blair's use of the endearment "love" as you read on it became progressively more and more annoying and overused. The "mystery" itself is very clever and well thought out. I had the who but not the why sussed out fairly quickly and the conclusion is very good. I am sorry that I have to give this 3 stars as I am a big fan of Lily Webb, and I will read the next book in the series with the hope that it improves as it does have potential.

  • Sweet cozy mystery

Good start to a new series, some sweet characters and the building has some interesting features. The B and B does seem to have a lot of empty rooms though, with more staff than guests but this is the first in the series and we get to know the main characters so probably business will pick up in the next book. Quirky paranormal cozy mystery, nice relaxing quick read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Start of a New Series

Selena is not happy with her barista job and having an especially bad day when a woman comes in and tells her she is her Aunt Blair. The woman owns the Kindred Spirits Inn and asks Selena to work for her. Selena talks to her best friend about it and they both decide to accept. Selena and Jadis arrive at the bed and breakfast which is not what they expected. This one has paranormal guests! And Selena discovers she has some magic and gets visions. So when a staff member of the inn disappeared, Selena uses her newfound vision abilities to help find the one responsible. Could it have something to do with the metamorph? Will Selena put herself and Jadis in danger? Will she find what happened and why? This is a good start to a new series that I already am enjoying! I like the characters and seeing how Selena reacts to her new-found magic. Grab your copy and enjoy this new paranormal cozy mystery series!
