Realistic detective work but plot was a bit hard to believe

I absolutely love the realistic approach to detective work the author has taken. The depth and intricacy of a DS's job is very well portrayed. I felt like I was reading a documentary on Sussex police at times. However, the premise of this story and subsequent murder saga that's unveiled here doesn't feel very well thought out. There's no mystery really. You know what's happening and why because the author males it very explicit. It's like the police are 10 steps behind you and you're just waiting for them to catch up. The element of whodunit is missing and I wish that wasn't the case.

    Dead Man's Grip

Another great story with a well worked plot. It's great the way characters from past books are written in - not to mention the added potential complication to RG's private life. No more, you'll have to read it to find out! Can't wait for the next one.

    Dead Mans Grip

Excellent read, could not put it down, the Roy Grace character is really starting to grow on me, and it is made better by the fact that the Brighton area is a part of the country that I am familiars with.

    Not dead enough

James' writing is getting more fluid with each addition to the series. Thouroughly enjoyed the book.
