Book Review – Deadly Secrets: 2nd Edition, Kelly McWinter PI Author – Jude Pittman Genre – Suspense, Mystery, Crime First Line: In the act of stepping through the front door at the Hideaway Bar and Barbecue, Kelly paused in mid-stride. Review: Kelly McWinter, a thirteen year veteran of Fort Worth Police Department, resigns after the loss of his family and moves to Indian Creek to take up a security position at a large flea market. After five years away from big city crime, he discovers his “detective” mind-set and instincts snap to attention when forced into action. Ms. Pittman introduces each player into the story with precision and flair. Kelly McWinter, the main star of the show, reminds me a bit of a Jesse Stone personality – the handsome loner, his head full of P.I. wisdom, with a faithful dog by his side. I liked him right away. The suspense builds naturally with all the developing events of mishap and murder, which carries the story to a surprise ending. I liked that it isn’t predictable: ) And I like that there’s another couple of stories following this one – Kelly McWinter now has a reputation to uphold in this reader’s heart. Recommended - if you like cozy or suspenseful mysteries.

Tough Guy with a Soft Heart

Kelly McWinter's trying to forget his past but he can't change who he is. He's the guy who always takes care of everyone else. And in Indian Creek, quite a few folks need taking care of.
