    Dear Evan Hansen

I absolutely love the musical that this was based off of, so I decided to read the novel version when it came out. Before I keep going, I'm not saying it was bad. I still love the story and the characters. But after seeing the show and obsessing over it for months, everything in the book feels like I've read it a million times over. Almost like I know it off by heart, which isn't the feeling I want when I'm reading a story. It was a decent adaptation, but I don't think it really brought anything new to what was already there. If you've never heard of Dear Evan Hansen in your life and you think it sounds interesting, read it. But for any avid fans of the stage show, I don't think you'll get anything more out of it than you did from the music and the original story. That being said, I still adore this story and I mean no offence to anyone who worked on turning it into a novel. My personal opinion is that this book will be more enjoyable for people who don't know the story beforehand.
