a good raw and gritty read

I do not even know where to begin! Deception and Chaos is a raw, gritty read full of intriguing revelations and a bit of a dark romance. The author sucked me in right from the first page and I didn’t want to put the book down, but sometimes you have to go do important things like work or eat. The first 8 chapters are an emotionally rough read as it is during the time Sophia is held captive. The author is very descriptive and it may be a trigger for those who have suffered from abuse. Without giving anything away, just know that Sophia is a strong, well-developed character who has been through so much. There are two supporting characters that I love. The one is her brother, Garrett. The other is dark, mysterious, and closed off with a dubious past, but a heart deeply buried underneath all those layers. There are secrets, lies, and a big twist at the end. This book does end in a cliffhanger so considered yourself forewarned. Fortunately, the 2nd book will be out in a few months. This book is told entirely from Sophia’s POV which seemed fitting for this type of book, but I really would have liked if there were just a few chapters told from Creed’s POV as I would love to get a look into his mind. I received this book as an ARC and I voluntarily leave this review.

    5 Chaotic Stars!

5 Chaotic Stars! Review by Sue Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/Books Blog I don’t know what it is about Deception and Chaos that intrigued me. It has a certain “Je ne sais quoi” that pulled me in and kept me enthralled. Sophia Cova lived a normal life. She attended college and worked two part time jobs. She idolizes her brother, Garrett. Until one fateful day she was abducted. Now she is a broken and tortured soul. Creed “Devil” Sabella is cold and callous. He lives for darkness. When these two tortured souls meet, the attraction is instantaneous. Sophia craves the way he makes her feel alive and powerful while Creed basks in the innocence that Sophia thinks she has lost. Creed is no angel and has blood on his hands. He rebukes Sophia’s attempts at friendship and has a dark past, if exposed, that may keep Sophia away from him for good Will they be able to mend what is what is broken within each other? I devoured this book, turning the pages like they were on fire! It is emotional, gritty, real, violent and addictive. There is not one part of this book that I did not like. It is also dark and twisted and just when you think the story may have a silver lining, chaos ensues! I was left with my mouth agape with that cliff-hanger of an ending. I’m am without a doubt waiting, impatiently, for the second book! This is a fast paced read that will grip you right from the very beginning. The only thing left for me to say is: S.M. Soto, where have you been all my life?

    Dark & Twisty

Dark romance - possible contains Triggers. Love Creed such a sexy man. Full of twists and turns and a whopper of a cliffhanger that will leave you with a book hangover. Hanging out for the conclusion.
