Absolutely fabulous! That is all I can say. For those who seek a story about human emotions that is so well and truly told that you can't put it down, you need to read this book!

I've always loved McKinley's writing ever since I read The Blue Crown, many, many moons ago. This is no exception. A beautiful tale of the uncertain journey from trauma to healing.

  • Beautifully written!

A beautifully written fairytale-like story with a strong female MC and hints of magic. I loved everything about it. Lissar/Deerskin experienced so much pain and growth on her journey. The ending was perfect too and I couldn't put the book down during the last chapters once I realized how everything was coming together!

  • Poignant and beautif;ul

McKinley is a brilliant writer, and this is one of her best. The story is painful, but beautiful. For those who are themselves survivors of trauma, this well-crafted tale can offer hope of healing.
