    Thanks for your feedback!

    Fantastic first book!

Hard to believe that this is a first novel in a series. With great skill in this genre Chris Allen grabs the reader from the first sentence. The style dances between the staccato rhythm of a high powered weapon in the action scenes to a gentler, more seductive tone when the, inevitable, damsel in distress enters the scene. While the characters are new they seem strangely familiar and multi-dimensional. Every interaction is well thought through and believable and while the 'baddies' might just get their comeuppance the cost and trauma along the way remind us that the Author is no stranger to the reality of the real world of combat. From the start Allen's complex but well structured plot, strongly founded on credible, technical detail, taunts the reader with the offer of a justice against the evil enemies. Then with unpredictable twists the promise comes crushing down like the unrelenting beatings taken by the hero, Alex Morgan. This is a hero who really has to work for his money. This is gritty action without the high tech gadgetry or overblown save-the-world antics that is sometimes present in this genre. It's as much about the heroism of individual soldiers and common people as it is about the geopolitical intrigue which underpins the compelling narrative. When you pick this book up I recommend you pour yourself a good, long Glenfiddich, turn the phone to silent and settle in for the night. It's gonna be a riveting ride...
