    A good read

l enjoyed reading this as although a regency setting it did not like so many rely on long descriptions of period fashions but was a a well thought out story.

    Loved it!

A wonderful and a very passionate book! Passion, Darkness and beauty all but clean. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series...

    Love triumphs over all

I loved this novel, despite the darkness and morose nature of the hero. When Frederick returns from war, wounded and riddled with gilt over his best friend that he couldn't save, he enters into a world of dark ponderings and misgivings. Elsbeth has also had her share of pain and suffers the consequences of her heroic deed. In a society where beauty and perfection reign supreme, she finds herself being rejected because of her scars. In the Lancaster household she finds peace and acceptance, even if her husband is unable to give her what she so badly needs. As the story progresses it emerges that there is mischief afoot, and Frederick in particular is being targeted. Ultimately, out of the ashes the phoenix arises and Elsbeth and Frederick find their purpose in life. I found this book to be well written and despite the pain being experienced by the main characters, it was nevertheless and delightful story about triumph over tragedy.

    Fantastic!

This was a beautiful and emotional journey. Fredrick and Ellie were both broken in their own ways, and learned to heal together. I couldn't put it down and loved every minute.

    Very enjoyable

Avery enjoyable read. I particularly like a story that engages my empathetic emotions. Parts of this one had me sniffling into a tissue and others had me smiling in triumphant. My only critique would be that it feels like it climaxes twice --when Rick remembers their first encounter and then again when he almost loses her..
