  • Intriguing, twisty, cozy mystery w/competing baker

Dessert is the Bomb is another delight in this great series. I love Sally, her friends and her zany family. This time Halloween is being complicated by a competing bakery. This well written book has explosions, Josie as a suspect, family secrets, red herrings and twists galore. Will Sally finally meet a mystery she cannot solve? I could not put the book down.

  • Great series!

This is a series that I can pick up and know I'll enjoy each book. The characters are relatable and also funny (and a little exasperating, in the case of one or two people) and I always like seeing what drama occurs in the town to draw Sally in. Sally was personally involved in the case, even more than usual this time, and trying to solve this mystery took both Sally and Josie's best sleuthing efforts. Relationships were a big focus too, with many becoming strained in this story. Another great addition to the series.

  • Murder is literally the bomb

Although this is the eleventh book in the series, it could easily be read as a stand-alone. Sally is the owner of Sally’s Samples, a bakery where she works with her best friend, Josie. Sally is married with a young daughter and has a quirky family to say the least. She also seems to get involved with every murder in town, this time a new bakery owner across the street who has a connection to her family. Sally and Josie are arrested for the murder on very flimsy evidence thanks to a new detective in town. He really seems to have it out for the women so it’s up to them to solve the murder and clear themselves. You will be rolling with laughter due to her family members, and there are many twists and turns that make a good mystery. I completely enjoyed this new book.
