    Delightful read!

This book is Harry Potter meets Twilight meets traditional mythology :) Sarah WaterRaven weaves an engaging, magical world set amongst the Canadian landscape of Toronto and the GTA. Upon picking up the book, I immediately felt immersed in a world that felt similar to the one I live in, with the added bonus of otherkin and magical creatures to discover and learn about. Sarah clearly has done her research here! She breathes life into the many species in her book, such as ghosts, vampires, fairies, merfolk and others, and juxtaposes them in real-life scenarios for a very interesting read! The characters you follow within the story are interesting and complex...Detective Docherty, the eccentric detective with a heart of gold, Ares, the OCD vampire with a coolly disguised kindness, and Alexandria, the whimsical hippie with a sharp wit, and astounding intellect - all with their own secrets to uncover and enjoy! I can't wait to see what adventures this set of loveable misfits gets up to next! Would recommend for all ages...has a bit of everything - wonder, intrigue, mystery....even some ROMANCE! Sarah is also a talented artist and engaging speaker. Highly recommend all of her work!

    A Thoroughly Riveting Read

Though I don’t tend to read many mystery/fantasy hybrids, I won’t hesitate to say that I found myself pleasantly surprised when reading Detective Docherty and the Demon’s Tears. Easily meeting and going beyond my expectations for the pilot book of a series, I was compelled by the complex and wonderfully forged setting, well developed characters, and fascinating subplots. One concept I found particularly interesting was that of the Great Awakening. Not many novels attempt to work the fantastical and obscure into the mundane normalcy of everyday life, and much less the process and effects of it. This novel, however, turned to be a delightful drip feed of information that had me enthralled, driving the plot to a wonderful climax and all afterwords. I can’t wait to continue reading into the series!
