  • great series

What a great conclusion to a marvelous series. Lots of action, lots of doubts in our heroines mind keeps the plot thickening. Who to trust who to believe. All in all it was a great series. Fun read that will keep you up past a reasonable bedtime. You might spend a few days suffering from lack of sleep. You won't be able to put the books down. Great characters and a wonderful world of mystery. I mean what other authors turn people purple. The amount of light and darkness that Mrs Thornton injects in to each book is amazing. A truly gifted storyteller and a master at balance, and flow. She definitely has great instincts on just when to hit the gas and when to pull back. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This in no way has influenced this review. Strong 4 star read.

  • A superb final installment in a wonderful series

This was an excellent conclusion to the Doormaker series. Maella has grown so much from the young frightened girl lacking confidence at the beginning of the first book. She has been through extreme physical and mental hardships, having friends and family successively ripped away from her, and (some) rediscovered. At the start, she knew nothing of her family history, and could not understand why she was forbidden to ever open a door. Now finally she is able to make an informed decision, that will determine the future existence for all three (maybe four) worlds. She needs to decide whom to trust – and with how much. Just because she would trust Sethlo with her life, does not mean she would necessarily trust him with everything. General Foster, Doormaker Tain, Sethlo, the Sechnel, the Hestroth, and each member of her family all have different plans for the One Door, when it is finally located. Can Maella go along with any of them? Or must she take an entirely different path? “What do you do if what is broken cannot be fixed?” I highly recommend this entire series to anyone who likes fantasy books with strong world-building and believable sympathetic characters, who continue to grow and develop, and who are forced into moral quandaries with no easy solutions. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book at no cost from the author in exchange for an honest review
