  • A Page Turner!

A book that will blow you away because you won’t see anything coming! Absolutely loved this book! This book has two story lines: Colby Mills hasn’t always had an easy life, raised by his aunt and uncle in Eastern, NC. He had to put his goals aside when his uncle died of a massive heart attack. He had to step up and take over running the family farm. Colby had been in a band, but now just played occasionally for local parties. Colby was playing at a party when the booker of a bar from St. Petersburg, Florida was there and asked if he would come down to play for 2 weeks. He agreed, since he hadn’t taken a vacation and needed one badly. Will this give him the push he needs to pursue his music career? Beverly is living with an abusive husband who not only physically hurts her, but also causes harm to her son. She knows she has to leave and takes the opportunity one night. Her husband works for the Department of Homeland Security, so is well connected to law enforcement. Will she be able to hide from her husband and keep her son safe? A highly emotional book that will keep you guessing until everything is revealed. This book will give you a book hangover and have you thinking about it long after it’s done. Definitely a must read for your TBR list!

  • Dreamland; where anything is possible!!

I read my first Nicholas Sparks book many years ago and when I was offered the opportunity to read “Dreamland”, I jumped at the chance. I was mesmerized by the storyline with its romantic beach setting where Colby meets Morgan and I was intrigued by Beverly’s story as she escaped with her young son from an abusive relationship. I had no idea how their lives would intersect which made the urgency with which I read hectic and nonstop. The characters told their own story as they ventured to new places where they could start over, realize a once forgotten dream, and use their god given talent to entertain the world. Colby and Morgan’s differences made them special and their talent made them a formidable team. Colby found Morgan to be larger than life and she was fascinated with the stories about his farm. They were genuinely interested in learning everything they could about each other because they knew that time was not on their side. Romantic feelings crept up on Colby and Morgan which they turned into beautiful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. I could only hope that somehow this endearing couple could find a way to always be together. My heart ached for Beverly as she crossed the country with her son to get as far away as possible from her former life. She traveled light, planned out her route and found a way to blend in with the crowds, while constantly looking over her shoulder. I am sure that once in her life she had her own dreams but now she could only hope that her past would never catch up with her. Protecting her son was her top priority and each afternoon as she waited for his school bus she wondered if they would ever really be happy again. When I was almost done with the book I once again asked myself what Colby, Morgan and Beverly could possibly have in common? I wasn’t prepared for the answer to my question and the twist and turns of the ending took me completely by surprise. What an amazing book from an imaginative, romantic and life changing author!!

  • Loved this book!

This book is divided into "parts" that alternate the point of view between Colby, a farmer from North Carolina on vacation in Florida, and Beverly, who is on the run with her young son from an abusive husband. The parts don't seem to have anything in common except that they both pull you in and you want to get to the end of the book to find out how this all fits together. I have to say that it is a page-turner. I don't want to put the book down. Nicholas Sparks has given his fans a real treat in Dreamland. I loved this book and would give it more than five stars if I could. Thanks to the author Nicholas Sparks, Random House, and NetGalley for providing a copy of this ebook for an honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
