The final book in an amazing new series

I read this as part of a box set, which included one other book in the series and a stand a lone novel. Requiem was an outstanding end to the Dregs of the Culver Waste series. Acid oceans, sea pirates, a metal city, great characters, ... it has everything a fantasy fan would want. The author is definitely a fresh voice in a genre that has become quite stale of late.

This one is still resonating with me

Just finished this and was really blown away. It's part two in a two book series, but it was filled with so many characters and locations it really felt like a trilogy. I loved the setting on a sea of acid and the plot was really well fleshed out. This was an awesome end to a series and a real page turner. Check it out if you're in the mood for a different kind of fantasy. You'll be glad you did.

Wonderfully horrible new lands to explore.

I'm a big fan of Scott Lynch and Stephen King, and the world this guy created is on par with almost anything these authors have conjured. Requiem for the Bastards is book 2 and the final book in the Dregs of the Culver Waste series. It's a fantastic action story filled with brutality and his cutthroat characters. The story echoes influences from Moby Dick and I couldn't get enough of it. I loved the fantastical realm of Retrac Daor and the endlessly miserable adventure Michael and his group of misfits embark upon. Both books were rich with detail and interesting cultures and I really hope he continues to tell stories in this horribly wretched land.
