    Great Read

While thoroughly enjoying reading Cindy Samples’ sixth book in her Laurel McKay Mystery series, “Dying for a Diamond,” the plot triggered memories about diamonds I have owned. Sleuths Laurel and her new husband Tom Hunter watch as wealthy cruisers spend thousands of dollars on expensive gems only to have some jewels stolen. Laurel makes sure readers know that she did not expect Tom, with Homeland Security, to buy her a diamond for years to come but could live with that because he is a wonderful man. As you may assume, diamonds play an important part in the intrigue as the plot twists and turns as Cindy Sample adroitly weaves murder and theft into Laurel’s unusual honeymoon cruise. To the honeymooning couple’s surprise, a number of her relatives have taken advantage of a last minute fare deal and are on the same cruise. You will find that the short chapters with endings that encourage you to turn the page to the next one and the flowing dialogue make this a great read. What event should have triggered a red flag for me? I had to arrange to buy my engagement ring and our wedding bands, not my husband. After the divorce, I designed a ring using the center diamond that I still wear. Look for “Dying for a Diamond” and the other five books in the “Dying” series, which are all available in paperback and electronic form for reading on any number of your devices on Amazon and other outlets.
