    Too short

I liked the story and the characters of this book. Anne is independent and knows what needs to be done. She is soft hearted and is willing to sacrifice for her family, even though, they never truly accepted her because of her being born on the wrong side of the blanket. The Earl has always done every thing to prove his parents right when they called him a little devil. Now, that Fredrick is Earl, he needs a wife, but Anne's offer of her sister Claire, makes him decide that he needs the fire that is Anne. I felt that the story should have been longer to give more depth to the characters, and a better way for the Earl to actually fall in love.

    Four stars

The Earl of Davenport is known as the Devil of Davenport because everybody thinks he is wicked. Anne knows the Earl quite well since her childhood and she is the only one who really knows him. Her family has financial problems and are nearly ruined. The only solution is to marry her eldest sister with the Earl. A short and concise story. Well-written and with enough details to get to know the characters and their environment. I like how Anne is able to see the good in him and trust him without reserves.
