  • I enjoyed it!

The Earl of Kendal is book 24 in the Wicked Earl’s Club stories. Although this is in the world of the Wicked Earl’s Club, it is not necessary to read these in order. I enjoyed the characters in this book. Adolphus Merrick, the Earl of Kendal, is stuffy and pompous, but underneath, there dwells a dangerous, alluring hero. Lady Sophia Stopford finds herself in the unfortunate situation of being forced to marry a horrible cad. What can she do to get herself out of the awful mess in which her gambling father has placed her? Read and find out. I thought the story’s pace was good, and there were enough unexpected twists and turns to keep it moving and interesting. There are several steamy scenes. I am looking forward to more from this author.

  • Loved it!

"Gossip?" He lifted a brow. "Pray, tell me what they say about me." Sophia licked her lips, and innocent and slow tease of her tongue. "That you're wicked." He leaned closer, hoping to intimidate her into leaving. "And how do you feel about wicked men?" Sophia center the focus of those large blue eyes on him. "Intrigued." Yowza, I do love these wicked Earls, and Kendal is my current favorite! Sophia was a little desperate not to marry the man her father was insisting on.. A man twice her age..She needed to be independent and find a way to make money. In talking to Kendal, she thought she had it figured out and she makes her escape. The the fun begins as Kendal chases her down to marry her (yes will have to read to find out), she runs, he chases... Yes a thrilling chase! Absolutely loved this story and cannot wait for more!

  • Delightfully Charming

Madeline Martin is one of my all-time favorite, fantastic authors. She weaves a story that captivates you from the start and holds you spellbound until the end. Adolphus Merrick, Earl of Kendal was anything but boring. He was a good man who took his responsibility to family seriously and so protected his sister always. Lady Sophia Stopford is no wilting flower but a young woman determined to live her life to the fullest, on her own terms. She’s strong, brave, feisty and a bit impulsive. I found the characters absolutely delightful, interesting and intriguing. Kendal was deliciously wicked and sweet at the same time. I love Lady Sophia’s feistiness, her determination and her zest for life. Together they make a beautiful couple. They just have to discover that they are the very thing they never knew they were seeking. It was fun to root for them. This is a great story, a wild adventure and a fun romance, wonderfully written and beautifully told. Madeline’s dialogue is witty and charming. You just can’t go wrong with her stories, they’re always so fantastic! Thank you Madeline for such a wonderful adventurous story and a sweet romance. I look forward to your next book.

  • Kept me reading. Enjoyed it.

This was a fun read. I loved Sophia's free spirit and her bravery. She was willing to plan out her own future and began carrying out that plan. Adolphus made sure no one knew the real him, keeping a certain face on for society. Yet, he had a big heart and was so protective of those he did care for. As they got to know each other, it was so easy to see how they complemented each other. I so enjoyed this story and highly recommend it. I received an ARC of this story, and this is my unsolicited review.

  • Wicked Earl's Club

Earl of Kendal is part of the Wicked Earls Club and the fifth book in the Matchmaker of Mayfair series. It was a short book and easily read in one sitting. Like most of the books by this author, it was well written and easy to read. The characters were charming and so easy to connect with. Lady Sophia Stopford did not want to marry her father’s friend. She decides to escape marriage by traveling to Scotland and opening a whiskey distillery. She did not count on the Earl of Kendal following her. Kendal agreed to follow Sophia and marry her so his sister’s reputation would not be ruined further. He did not expect her to keep escaping and running away. He had no wish to marry but Sophia’s father forced him to in order to save his sister. This was another delightful book from the author and a great addition to the fun Wicked Earls Club series. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
