  • Great series

This is a re-read, even though I read it for the first time not long ago. I think Edwards' books really reward re-reading, and I enjoy them even more the second time. Even though there are things about the book that annoy me - the 'futuristic' slang for instance - I find her approach to worldbuilding really quite addictive. She creates imperfect, believable futures that are neither dystopian or especially high tech.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • Original dystopia

Some of the dialogue is a bit cringe such as the slang, and the future world could do with more development and detail, but this is a story more to do with socialist prejudice and one girl's journey coming to terms with her identity, loss, grief and acceptance. Read this for a story about character development not action or adventure.
