    Thanks for your feedback!

A regional masterpiece rooted in universal themes.

Russo won the Pulitzer for good reason. I grew up in Maine, and am more than a bit familiar with all the various 'falls' towns. He nailed the place and the people right down to the poverty, wit, hope, and futility of living in them. I don't have to actually go back to visit again; all I have to do is pick up the book and read about ten pages and I'm there. Russo gets into your readerly head by getting into the minds and bodies of his characters in a way few other writers can manage. This is a regional masterpiece rooted in universal themes.

    Oh, the humanity.

Complex characters with heart, grit and humor.
