    Vibrant and Wonderfully Different

reading a sequel never felt sooo good! At first I thought this was just a stand alone story within the same beautiful and colorful world of the Empire but then I realized that this was a prequel to the first book and I almost blew my lid. You realize pretty quick, if you're a real fan of the book, that this is the story of Shar/Mara who is Nisha's mother. I was so excited when I realized this because they shrouded her parent's history in the first book so thickly. Once you figure out that the stories are tied together you can't help but draw parallels to events and characters you meet in the first book. we are once again swept into this diverse and elegantly imagined world with a deeper look into the interest caste system being played out. I really enjoyed the inside look into the Flower Caste. We got a taste in the first book but this time around we saw into the twisted but intelligent game being played among the caste system. Like the first book, the author tells the tale of a young woman going out into the world not just to find herself but to find retribution for the past she left behind and along the way she falls into down the rabbit hole that is the Empire and the Flower Caste. In the middle of a whole lot of madness, betrayal and fighting she finds a friend she wasn't looking for, a love she never saw coming and a purpose that wasn't exactly what she imagined but was exactly what she needed.
