    Captivating

I was totally captivated by this book, but hopelessly lost. It might have jut grasped the theme o the book toward the end. But the again in my defence that is what the author intended

    Well written. Ends strangely.

Really well written. Ends a bit strangely. Yet another book whose description does not include that it is the first of a SERIES.

    Original and innovative

Really interesting near future, slightly dystopian spy thriller set in a fragmenting Europe with dozens of mini states. Very well written and paced. And then suddenly, near the end, we delve into imaginitive sci-fi. Thumbs up, Mr Hutchinson - straight onto the next one for me.

    Plot, Vision, Character and Mood

It's always good to welcome a new writer with a new vision. I loved the mood of this book. Connectable Characters, complex plot ( you really need to remember names ! ) Outstanding vision ~ in one way very much SF, but which also connects directly to our present.

Not the worst book I've ever read but---

I was unimpressed. The story line skipped, characters were rather boring and the situations they found themselves in unrealistic. I fought my way through to the end of the book just to see how it ended, only to have it end on a cliffhanger. I won't be reading volume two.
