    Amazing!!!

I liked this book a lot but to be honest the beginning was fairly slow paced and quite boring. Yet by the time is reached act 2 the story was became thrilling and fast paced. However there was a continuous section in the book where the two main female characters Alytchai and Cattalice fought for about 7 pages each time this quickly became boring and made me want to quit reading this book. I really admired the main character Alytchai she was a strong willed character who was very determined. My least favourite character was Cattalice I found this character to be extremely needy and self absorbed she allowed people to bully her friend ( this I found very shocking). Overall I thought this book was very good once I got about half way through.

A good scifi story with great action sequences

A highly enjoyable scifi novel. One thing Raphyel M. Jordan does very well is action. The Goolian tribe--the characters at the heart of this prequel--trains its members to be combatants from an early age, and so the story is full of action scenes. Jordan writes them well. E.g.: "The mastra got a ball of energy in the chest the second her foot touched the top of the hut. The shot from Catty wasn't lethal, but it still knocked the Little One on her back. Not caring about the pain in her sternums [sic] and blinded by anger, Aly sat back up and charged. Catty swept-kicked her right off the roof. ... The Little One wiggled out of the master's grip before dashing off on all fours as well. She and Catty crashed into laundry, pots, and anything in sight as they ran through the village." 'Evaluations of the Tribe' is a satisfying prequel, with great tension between the two main characters. A fun read.
