Smile on my face throughout this novella!

Loved this novella, such a fun story and great characters. Finished it in one weekend as I did not want to put it down. Had a smile on my face the whole time. Highly recommend this story, at Halloween or any time!

    Fun Halloween Read

Nessa is a free spirit who is named after her great-great-grandmother Agnes, who may or may not have been a witch. She’s exploring if she inherited any of those supernatural tendencies but keeps getting interrupted by her hot neighbor Ewan and his awful girlfriend Fern. Throw in an over-eager journalist and she has the makings of a fun little comedy/romance novella. I enjoyed this novel very much – it had romance, comedy, and a bit of supernatural in it. I was provided a free advance copy of this book in return for an honest review. I enjoyed this book and it was a perfect Halloween read.

    A witch with attitude

I was lucky enough to read this previous to it being published ( I didn't know the title of the book - nor the author. I gave it 4.5 stars then). When it got to launch time, Choc Lit asked if I would like another read. I jumped at the chance! Here is my review this time around This is a novella (shorter story) but not a short storyline. It's funny, witty, humorous and had me laughing out loud (both times I read it). Even though it's not Halloween, this is the perfect read to cheer up the dark cold nights - so cosy up, relax and enjoy. Nessa (no..... NOT Vanessa .... Agnes (but do not say that out loud or you will be turned into a toad!)) appears to be a slightly odd and very crazy cat lady. She is often seen dancing and heard chanting .... sorry .... singing .... in her courtyard, much to her rather yummy neighbour Ewan's amusement but not to his rather opinionated and somewhat jealous girlfriend Fern. After a rather amusing section where Schubert (the cat) gets stuck on the chimney, Ewan asks Nessa if she will join him on a little road trip for some research on his new novel. She jumps at the chance but without spoiling it for you .... let's just say thank goodness for Winnie the camper van. There is lots of mischief and spooky goings on - it was lots of fun to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it ..... both times!!

    Halloween Fun

This is a great short novel with a tender starting romance. When Nessa starts to practice as a witch her life improves dramatically. With help from Schubert, the cat, her whole life takes shape and she understands what is happening. Ewan is several steps behind her in understanding but eventually, as in all good romances, catches up. An unusual style of writing keeps everything clear to you, the reader, and lets you into the private thoughts of the couple. A fun, romantic book ideal for Halloween.

    In a word? Unputdownable....

What a super little short this one is – Kirsty’s first romcom, but I do hope it won’t be her last. Agnes (Nessa) is descended from a witch and seems to have some sort of inherited quirky ‘powers’. She lives in a large house in Edinburgh, which is divided into flats – above her lives Ewan, a successful author, who is also a DJ in his spare time. He has a girlfriend, Fern, who has taken a strong dislike to Nessa and is attempting to make life really difficult for her. The writing style is lighthearted and flowing, gently humorous, alternating between Nessa’s voice and Ewan’s. I found it a really easy read and happily finished it in one sitting, I could not have put it down for anything! I look forward to your next venture, Kirsty – keep them coming!
