    Couldn't put it down

French soft rock star Cyril, blind after a car accident, gets dumped by his longtime girlfriend, meets a mysterious fan and learns an important lesson or two about love and life. Fast paced and highly entertaining.

    Worth your time

By Texas I love this series. The books are connected, but stories are complete with no cliffhangers. This one is a prequel that tells the story of Cyril, a rock star who 3 months before story began was left blind, scarred and deaf unless wearing hearing aids. Emma is the younger sister of his longtime on-again off-again girlfriend. She also is desperately in love with him and arranges to just happen to be at La Boehme when Cyril is there. She introduces herself as Laura and a friendship begins. As in all of Alix Nichols' books there are heavier messages besides boy meets girl and they fall into bed. This one stresses acceptance, forgiveness, growth through adversity and a strong anti-drug message all presented within the context of a beautifully constructed text. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review...lucky me!

    Moving Love Story

his is a short story that can be read in one setting. Emma has been in love with Cyril since she was 13 years old, but he has been dating her older, beautiful sister. Cyril is a great musician who gets in an accident and looses his sight and some of his hearing. He also has some not too flattering scars on his face. Emma's older sister does not want much to do with him after the accident. Emma feels this is her chance for Cyril to get to know her better without telling him who she is. She has one wonderful night with Cyril and then her sister spoils everything. You need to read the book to see what happens. It made me think about what it would be like to lose my sight. Alix did a good job of letting us feel all of Cyril's emotions and frustrations. Emma was a sweet person that just loved Cyril for himself. I really enjoyed the book and encourage you to read it.

    A poignant and charming story

The story begins in the middle of a complicated situation involving unspoken attractions, seemingly impassable barriers, and a well intentioned deception. The interconnected lives of the characters conceal a tangled web of intrigue which unravels comically and then more seriously as this fast paced novella progresses. It's an enjoyable read. The author has a gift for breathing life into the characters and the places in which the story takes place.
