    Sexy and he knows it

Avery Yeung and Drew Flannery's story is totally tangled up. They are best friends. They grew up together. They live in a small town where everyone knows everyone else. Avery has health issues that run in her family. They make her worry about her chances to have a baby. They also make her worry about contracting cancer. Drew is the Sheriff in their town. He was hurt in his past by a father who was the town drunk. His job calls him out and he does not always have time to be with someone. Their friendship is solid and they can count on each other. Despite Drew making a reputation for himself, Avery knows he comes when she calls him for help. Now, when she wants to have a baby - he wants to kill any man that may touch his best friend! Drew has had feelings for Avery for some time. He is just in denial of why or what to do. He is attracted to her and she to him. They just do not want to lose their friendship. When they decide to make a baby together, since there is trust there, it changes everything. Suddenly they cannot keep hands off one another. Can love conquer all? Can her tell her the truth? Very sweet story and I love the banter! The honesty with these character is also amazing. This is the 2nd book in the Out of Uniform series. ***This ARC copy was given free from Netgalley and its publisher, for review purposes. Fantastic writing!!!

This is a story about a woman, Avery Yeung, whose mother died of cancer. Her sister had to have a complete hysterectomy because of cancer and now she has been diagnosed as having the same genetic marker for the that same cancer and they've all had it by the time they were 28 years old. She's 27. She decides to have a baby with a sperm donor before the choice is taken away from her. The only problem is that her best friend since they were seven years old, Drew Flannery, wants to be the sperm donor and he wants to do it the old-fashioned way. Can the friendship withstand the whirlwind affair they're about to embark on for the sake of getting her pregnant? Fabulous story! These two friends have an amazing relationship. I found myself smiling constantly and sometimes laughing out loud at their crazy antics. Watching Avery sister try to be happy for her was heart-wrenching. Avery's grandparents are cruel and unfeeling. All they care about is extending the Yeung line and the proper role of a wife. It's a good thing her father supports her in whatever makes her happy. I love how this author can touch on the tragedy of cancer and at the same time show us the loving, sexy and very humorous relationship between the characters in this story, without lessening the impact of the disease. Bravo! I can't wait to read more from this fantastic author. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

A bit of smart & sassy with some steamy, sexy!

FALLING FOR HIS BEST FRIEND (Out of Uniform, # 2) by Katee Robert  May 19, 2015 Publisher: #Entangled #Brazen approx pages: 220 #Romance: #Contemporary ** ARC Provided by NetGalley in Exchange for an HONEST Review. ** -- MY THOUGHTS -- Judging a Book by it's Cover: The colors and cover design attract the eye. The synopsis sounds like it will be a fun friends-to-lovers story with a healthy dose of trouble-making. Looking Deeper:  Alternating third-person POV's. Drew and Avery have been each others best friends since childhood; each being the other's source of comfort, confidante, and solace. They learned the one another's nuances and knew how to support the other in any given mood. But now, it seems things may be shifting in a different direction. She's fast approaching 28, the age both her mother and sister were diagnosed with cancer and could not have children after, she's in a race to get pregnant. Drew refuses to let his best friend go at it solo with some random baby daddy's swimmers, so he volunteers for the job.    I'm guessing by the plot drops that Drew's brother, Ryan, and Avery's best friend, Bri, are the couple from book one. There's enough of a background given on it to make me want to go back at a later time and read it. That said, this book can and does stand very well on it's own. The characters are thoroughly enjoyable and completely likable. The dialogue is natural and interactions are believable. The plot is a whole lot of fun, while sprinkled with some highs and lows and the story line progressed smoothly at a perfect pace. The conflicts were resolved well in a timely manner as they arose. Predictability was virtually non-existent. The conclusion was good, but it felt cut short. The epilogue felt like a jump time jump, leaving the final conclusion a bit open ended; making you wonder about the pink or blue, a wedding, the crotchety grandparents, the heartsick sister... even still, I enjoyed the heck out of this one & would recommend the series to anyone who enjoys a bit of smart and sassy with their steamy, sexy.  ------------------------ Heat Level: 4.25 ------------------------ Score: 4.6 Stars: 5 -----------------------   -- ABOUT the AUTHOR -- Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back. Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published. Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?   She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.  -- REVIEWER INFO -- Tina J / Happily Ever Chapter

Quite a good read for a relaxing night at home

As far as I remember, this is the first book I read by Katee Robert and it is quite a good one. This wasn't the best book I've read recently but it was a good read. It is mostly fun and lighthearted and really good if you are looking for a light reading to relax after a long day. It is written very well and the characters are well developed and easy to connect with. Avery and Drew are definitely interesting and fun main characters. I have to say that some of their actions were quite interesting and sometimes even fun :D Drew is definitely a delicious male specimen with black hair and blue eyes (my favorite combination in the world :D ) and he is also the sheriff with quite the track record as the local playboy. And of course he has a tortured past that only makes even more attractive to the average woman ;) Because who can resist a pantie melting man in uniform with a tortured past and playboy ways. There is just something about that combination that attracts every woman with the possibility that she will be the one to heal his wounds and change his ways :D Well, in this case, Avery is the perfect woman for Drew. She is his best friend and both of them carry a torch for each other since they were teenagers. Too bad none of them could recognize the feeling :D Avery, of her own accord is quite an interesting character. She is strong and independent. But thanks to a huge heartbreak from her childhood she has to make a decision that will change her life forever. Because being a single mother is always quite the challenge. Thanks to this decision of hers, she finally has the chance to fight for the man who has always been the one she compared everyone else to, her best friend Drew :) In a few words, this book is not spectacular but it is still quite interesting. It is not very long so it could be read for a night or two (depending on your free time) and it is perfect for a relaxing night at home :) I have to say that I will definitely check the other books in the series because I got intrigued by the supporting characters in this story :) This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review.
