  • Great start but tailed off in the middle for me

Computer security expert Kathryn Irish can't believe her latest job is in one of her ex-boyfriend Daniel MacArthur's buildings, and of course she runs into him in the lobby because that's not at all embarrassing. Billionaire with no known occupation (okay there might have been but I can't recall how he earned his billions) Daniel doesn't know what went wrong between him and Kathryn but now they've been thrown together he's going to do everything in his power to keep her in his life. I started this novella totally enthralled by the STEM heroine with a job to do, totally professional and living her best life. Daniel was also a great hero, okay he ticks a lot of obvious romance clichés but hey it's a romance. Unfortunately for me the novella started to go downhill about the halfway mark. First. there was the obligatory love scene which went on and on, or maybe they just did it several times with no plot advancement in between. Even worse, I felt that I had read that same scene, using the same words, in several other Katie Reus novels. Then there was the totally obvious suspense element, it felt like it was thrown in at the last minute and Katie Reus didn't really commit to it, blink and you missed it (if only the same were true of the love scenes - sorry for the mealy-mouthed review but otherwise B&N makes me use asterisks to get reviews through their sensitive censors). Full-disclosure, I am not a great fan of Katie Reus' contemporary works, what works well in PNR, which is a bit of an OTT genre, does not translate well (for me) in contemporary romance or romantic suspense. So, you are right, I shouldn't have requested the ARC, I know, but I always hope that one day she'll get it right for me. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

  • An enjoyable and fast-paced novella

Falling for Irish is an enjoyable, fast-paced novella. That wonderfully introduces Daniel MacArthur and his siblings Sienna and Brodie. And with just the right amount of heat and romance between main characters Daniel and Kathryn, and a sprinkling of suspense this really was an engaging read. And one I would happily recommend to others. **I was kindly provided with an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

  • I liked this novella

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of FALLING FOR IRISH (Novella #1 in the MacArthur Family Romance Series) by Katie Reus in exchange for an honest review. Once upon a time, Kathryn Irish and Daniel MacArthur had a brief but intense relationship. Daniel was puzzled when Kathryn abruptly ended the relationship. Kathryn broke up with Daniel when she found out he thought she was dating him for his money. When Kathryn’s job brings her back within Daniel’s life, Daniel decides he either needs Kathryn back or closure. Kathryn’s continuing feelings for Daniel draw her back into what she sees as a doomed relationship. Soon both Daniel and Kathryn come under attack. In order for them to have a future, they’ll have to survive the present. I liked this novella. I was brief and had limitations due to the brevity. I recommend this story to fans of romance featuring wealthy businessmen, security, and mystery. #FallingforIrish #NetGalley

  • Absolutely Amazing Book

This is book one in The MacArthur Family Series and it is Kathryn and Daniel's story and what a great story it is. Kathryn and Daniel have history together that didn't end very well as she had seen a note in Daniel's office saying that he thought she was a gold digger and that is why she ended there relationship even though she was in love with him but now she was in Daniel's building doing a diagnostic check on there security system and she chose this day knowing that he wouldn't be there but she had a bit of a shock when he walked in. Daniel was shocked to run into Kathryn in his building and wearing a engagement ring only two months after she walked away from there relationship even though he didn't know what he had done to cause it but he now decided that he wouldn't given up without a fight and he was determined to find out what had gone wrong as he was still in love with her. Kathryn had been attacked twice in the last few weeks but she didn't know why so she was extra vigilante and she was aware of her surroundings but when Daniel found out about her being attacked he was really concerned about was happening and why so he set out to protect her. Daniel and Kathryn's chemistry was off the charts not and you could feel it sizzling of the pages of this book. The characters and storyline pulled you in right from the first page and I couldn't put it down as I had to see what would happen next and there are many twists and turns and surprises along the way. Katie Reus is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed. I Voluntarily Reviewed an Arc Copy of this Amazing Book.

  • My kind of hero!

What a spectacular beginning to this new series! This is a novella but it feels like so much more, mainly due to the fact Kathryn and Daniel had been in a relationship prior to the beginning of this story. That carries a lot of weight and validates their emotions and responses. I loved the way Daniel had perceived his relationship with Kathryn the first time around as well as his reactions to her when they were reunited a few months later. Any hero that is possessive, jealous and above all, protective, is a hero I will always recommend. Add in some smexy moves and all my check-boxes have been marked. While this is primarily about the relationship between Kathryn and Daniel, it has its standard Katie Reus suspense and mystery threaded throughout it making it even more of a page turner. I gobbled this down in one sitting and was immediately hungry for the rest of the series. With action and drama sprinkled throughout, secondary characters I can’t wait to get more of and the sizzling chemistry with this couple, I highly recommend this!
