The awesome new addition to the Fatal series!

Once again I am awed by the incredible story telling talent of Marie Force. Each book in the Fatal series is as great or better than the one before it, and each book demands a place on my favorites shelf where it will be read again and again. Fatal Identity has a mystery involving the son of the director of the FBI, which occurs just as Sam is suspended from duty for her assault of her nemesis Detective Ramsey and Gonzo is still reeling from the death of his partner, Detective Arnold. The twists and turns of this mystery, along with Sam's mother's impending visit, and Nick and Scotty's simultaneous sickness make for a great read with never a dull moment!

    Fatal Identity

I have loved every one of the Fatal books by Marie Force, but this one kicked it up a notch in the case that falls into Sam's lap. Well, technically it shouldn't be her case, but she's been suspended for hitting a fellow officer (who thoroughly deserved it). But when she's the only person the victim can trust - what else can she do but start looking into it off the clock. The case is very unusual and takes her to the highest positions in the FBI for suspects. When Special Agent Avery finds out what's going on, he's convinced that Sam is barking up the wrong tree. There's no way that Josh was kidnapped as a baby by the director of the FBI. The case takes Sam in some very interesting directions, and when Sam and Avery go out of town to investigate, Nick has to come to a truce and put his jealousy aside. I really liked this look into Sam and Nick's relationship. Tense words may have been exchanged, but watching their love and trust shine through is pure #relationshipgoals. Sam's detective family is still mourning the loss of one of their own. I can't even imagine what that would be like. Force treats the situation delicately, but she also doesn't hold any punches. People are falling apart, people are holding it all in, and the team comes together to help in every way they know how. Another fantastic and suspenseful book.

    Loved it

This was a wonderful a quick read. Picked up from where the last book ended. Action packed. Nice to see the follow through with the other characters family and friends. Loved it. Highly recommend it.

    Great story, iffy narration

I never really think about how much a narrator affects the enjoyment of an audiobook until I’m in one where the narrator badly detracts from my experience. I really liked the story. I love hearing about Sam and Nick and all their family, friends, and colleagues. But the narrator on this one just about ruined it for me. Her high girlish voice doesn’t fit my image of Sam and some of the accents she assigned to secondary characters left me scratching my head. I was also thrown off by some of her pronunciations. But more about the story itself. Yes, it’s highly unlikely but the very over-the-top nature of the plot was part of what I liked best. There’s lots of drama and intrigue as well as some wonderfully funny and tender moments. I can’t wait to see what’s next for the Second Lady and her VP.

    Fatal Identity

I absolutely love this series. Every book she comes out with has you fall in love with Nick and Sam little more. They are perfect for each other. Can't wait for another one. Hope we don't have to wait too long.
