  • Brilliant Medical Thriller!

What a wonderful discovery of a book and author! Medical thrillers are uncommon and this one is a special treat. As it was written by a doctor it is resplendent with the voice of knowledge and experience yet without condescension. Talk about a thought provoking topic, too...assisted death and playing God. This book is largely about making choices, finding truth and the importance of family and other relationships. Dr. Kate Downey, an anaesthesiologist and teacher, is horrified to discover that patients in her care at the hospital are inexplicably dying from minor surgeries. To add to this horror she is blamed. Desperate to prove herself innocent she and others in her circle work together to investigate. Not only that but further deaths must be prevented. I really like the suspense (was practically gnawing my tongue), protagonist and Aunt Irm, the medical aspect and the windy paths we are taken down. The plot and subplots are riveting. The ending is well done. Do not pass this one by. Anyone even remotely intrigued by medical thrillers ought to read this. I certainly hope the author writes more! My sincere thank you to Oceanview Publishing and NetGalley for the privilege of reading this fantastic book!

  • Devious & Enthralling

Right from the very beginning, I was gripped by this controversial but enthralling tale by Tammy Euliano. Elderly patients are dying after undergoing minor surgery and anesthesiologist Dr Kate Downey decides to find out why this might be, though not everyone at the hospital in Florida where she works is happy. This is a fast-paced medical drama with an end that I didn't see coming. The author's characterisation was excellent, especially of Kate whose husband Gregg was caught up in an explosion, resulting in him being in a coma. Kate was a very likeable character who wanted to protect everyone in her care along with her friends and family. A thrilling medical story that has a number of twists and turns, together with plenty of action and a friendship. All in all, a great début. I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Oceanview Publishing via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

  • Medical mystery

Fatal Intent by Tammy Euliano is a fast-paced medical mystery. Because Dr. Euliano is a medical doctor, her knowledge and experience makes this story seem authentic and informative. Anesthesiologist Dr. Kate Downey becomes aware that a few patients who had a simple surgical procedure at her hospital died a few days after their operation. Because they had already been released from the hospital before their death, the hospital is not likely to be held responsible for the tragedies. But something is definitely not right and Kate’s superiors do not share in her enthusiasm in detecting the cause and manner of the unexpected deaths. Is there a common denominator? Did the problems occur on her watch? Could this be happening at other hospitals? Is this intentional and therefore a crime? There are many interesting characters, the good people and the not so good people and sometimes it is difficult to establish which is which. There is plenty here to keep the reader turning the pages. For anyone who has ever had surgery, this will leave a chill but Fatal Intent is well-worth the read. Thank you to Oceanview Publishing, NetGalley and the author for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
