    Fatal Love

In Fatal Love by Misty Evans, Cal and Beatrice are ready to welcome their baby into the world. Nothing goes as expected though, and this fast paced novella is packed with mystery, suspense, danger, hope and love. I was quickly absorbed in Fatal Love. With a focus on Cal and Beatrice and the impending birth of their baby, the story of Sabrina and Connor is woven in seamlessly also. I liked the way they were made part of this! Told from multiple POV's, Misty Evans made Fatal Love feel real, especially if you've been following this series. This novella is the perfect length for the story being told. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next Shadow Force International book! I'd recommend reading the rest of the series prior to Fatal Love, and recommend them all to any romantic suspense reader!

Cal & B's Baby Makes Quite an Entrance!

Wow – Misty Evans has certainly made the arrival of Cal and Beatrice’s baby one to remember! With all the action, suspense, and heart of the rest of the SFI series, this novella has everything you would expect when it comes to birth of Cal & B’s baby! It's always special when your baby's birth happens and you and your new family are surrounded by people you love...and it’s even more special when those people you love can protect you from the crazy terrorist who has shown up in the middle of the delivery seeking revenge. Leave it to Cal and B to deliver a baby in the middle of a gunfight – I would have expected nothing less! And as usual B steals the show… One of the things I love best about this series is how Misty Evans weaves her characters in and out of the books. It is always a treat to catch up with characters who have been featured in other books as well as get to know some new ones. I loved meeting Connor and Sabrina, two SFI team members who find their way to one another during this novella. They each have an interesting background and I hope we get to learn more about them in upcoming books in the series – *dish, Misty – what’s up with the September 12 group that Connor keeps referring to?* This is a quick read with great writing that will pull you in and have you finishing it in one sitting. Even though this one is a bit heavier on the suspense/action side, the undercurrent of emotion between Cal and B and the beginning of the romance between Connor and Sabrina balance out all the gunfire and explosions. And the ending made me all warm and smiley inside. Although this can be read as a stand-alone, I would recommend starting this series from the beginning so you have a better understanding of the relationship between the characters.

Fantastic addition to an amazing series!

Fatal Love (SEALs of Shadow Force Book 4) by Misty Evans, is a fantastically thrilling addition to the Shadow Force International Romantic Suspense Series. This is the nail biting continuation of the story of Callan Reese and Beatrice (aka B/Queen Bee/ Bianca), who Ms. Evans introduced in Deadly Force: SCVC Taskforce Book 3. Also present are Conner and Sabrina, along with many of the other SFI characters. The story opens with B and Cal returning home with Trace playing bodyguard, and of course B being B, she’s worked right up until she’s due to deliver and goes into labor in the car. They manage to get home safely, but that’s where the real drama begins. B, characteristically, couldn’t just check into the hospital, get an epidural, and deliver Baby Reese without incident. Instead, she’s planned a home water birth with a midwife, but I don’t imagine being under siege was part of her plan. Cal’s past has come back to haunt him and an old enemy wants what is most precious to him. With everyone else away on assignment when he calls in the troops, the only two available are Conner and Sabrina to come to his and Trace’s aid, while he tries to keep B out of the fray. Conner, an ex SEAL, is at the office manning the phones as usual and not on a team mission because his extreme PTSD has put him on the sidelines. Sabrina, the new lab tech, refuses to be left behind. They each have their issues they must put aside to provide the assistance needed at the hive, Beatrice and Cal’s home. What follows is an amazing roller coaster ride with edge of your seat suspense. I do hope to read more about Conner and Sabrina’s romantic adventures together in future books. Queen B is one of my favorite of Ms. Evan’s characters and I’m so glad she and Cal, after having such trouble, are finally having their first child together. (Yes, I am that much into this series.) I also enjoyed the humor added into the story with the debate over naming Baby Reese, depending on which sex, which of course B also wants to be a surprise, the baby is. It was nice to read about the other operatives at the team meeting as well. Over all, Fatal Love is a great, well rounded, installment to the SFI series. This novella could be read as a standalone, as it’s been a while since I read the previous books but plenty of history is included that I caught up quickly. But I also recommend Deadly Force, where the SFI series spun off, with the beginning of Callan and Beatrice’s story, then following up with the rest of the series. As well, I recommend the SCVC Taskforce Series, which starts with Deadly Pursuit, as it is just as great a thrill ride as this series, always with plenty of romance included. But I shamelessly recommend any Misty Evans book as she has yet to disappoint. So grab Fatal Love and settle in for an exhilarating read. It’s a great romantic suspense, and I consider it a must read. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this title.
