  • Meet the sexy Dark Protectors!

Not Lestat. Not the Carpathians. Not Angel, or even Edward Cullen. Nope. The sexiest vampires ever are Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protectors! And it all starts with Fated ... Talen Kayrs, the head of security and strategic military leader of the Realm, is skilled in combat, powerful, dominating and sexy as hell. He also happens to be ... a vampire. In Zanetti's unique take on paranormal romance, her vampires walk in daylight, look just like humans, don't need to drink blood to survive and yes, pay taxes! Those rumours to the contrary? Well, we've been confusing vampires with Kurjans, white-faced, night-walking sociopaths who view the human race as "prey". Imagine the shock, disbelief and terror of Cara Paulsen, single mom, scientist and closet empath, when she learns that a) vampires are real, b) monsters (Kurjans) are real, and c) the Kurjans are after her and her four year old daughter Janie! Cara is as intelligent, level-headed, and maternally protective as the rest of us but Talen's offer (actually demand!) that he protect and marry her is too compelling to be refused Talen and Cara's story is breath-taking, heart-pounding, and deliciously erotic. Along the way you will be introduced to the rest of the sexy Kayrs brothers and assorted shifters, witches, and demons. Throw in a mysterious Virus-27 developed by the devious Kurjans, escalating war between immortals on multiple fronts, and vague unsettling prophecies about Janies's role as a future catalyst in changing the fate of the world, and you are in for an amazing ride!

  • I couldn't put to down

I'm not a big fan of paranormal books but ever so often one catches my attention & I just have to give it a chance. I didn't regret reading this one & I will read the next in the series. Some parts did get me a bit upset and their were times I wanted to yell at Cara or smack Talen, especially when he would frequently refer to Cara as wife & mate. It did get to me but not so much that it stopped me from enjoying the rest of the book. Their was mystery around every corner that just kept me hooked and enough heat to fog up my ereader.

  • I devoured it

This novel was fast paced and wildly exciting from the get-go. Action, romance, and suspense kept me so wrapped up that I devoured this novel in a single day. World building melts with plot development in such a manner that they become a seamless whole. Zanetti takes readers deep into the world of this series while also giving them the ride of a lifetime. I love how the relationship between the main characters wasn’t easy, but neither was it insurmountable. The battle of wills, desires, and needs leads to some comical moments, while at the same time highlights just how well these two fit together. Cara’s abilities really make her shine as a character, as does her compassion and genuine warmth. Her difficult past directly affects her, yet doesn’t define her. Talen’s multifaceted character was fantastic. I enjoyed getting to know him bit by bit via tidbits dropped by those closest to him. He was also hot, caring, and all Alpha, the type of hero you just can’t look away from. And let’s not forget Janie, in all her cuteness & insight. Through her we get to know a lot about the hearts of the main characters, as well as many of the supporting cast. My final thoughts on this one? How have I never read this novel before now & could someone please hand me the next in the series. Zanetti had me hooked from cover to cover with her fantastically in depth and imaginative, yet completely plausible, world and all its goings on.

  • Fated by Rebecca Zanetti

Fated by Rebecca Zanetti Vampire romance. First in the series of 10+ books and several novellas. A world where vampires protected humans but now different factions are at war, with one race of vampires, the Kurjans, not caring what happens to humankind. I loved the protective nature of the Karys brothers to the child Janie. She had them all wrapped around her little finger. Adorable. She’s the prophesied child and grows to an adult throughout the series. The brothers know she must be protected for the future of their race. Or so we’re told in a description of the overall ARC of the series by the author. I don’t care for the overbearing arrogance of a male and the lack of choice for a female. And suddenly she’s hot and into him too? How convenient for him. The saving grace here was the rare glimpse into Talen’s feelings. He genuinely loved Cara. He should have been more open about that rather than just trying to sexually dominate and control her. Over and over again. And not to spoil it, because it is a romance, in the end he is sweet and charming and trying hard to give Cara what she needs. Fair warning: lots of sex is had in this book and not much foreplay. Paraphrasing “Pushed In to the hilt and immediately started pumping”. To me, this isn’t romantic, but to be fair, this is pretty typical of this author. She writes strong, dominating males. I was confused with references to Conn’s mate as maybe a fairy since this is the first book in the series. I’m guessing it will be included in later books. In the end, I will read more of this series because once the emotions were revealed from the males, it makes them more appealing. Plus, I’ve read other series by this author and loved the intensity.
