Compelling, sexy romance by a talented writer

I waited in anticipation for Laura Kaye's "Fighting For What's His" the second book in the Warrior Fight Club series and it was well worth the wait. This book had everything I want in my books. Shayna and Billy were fully developed three dimensional characters that could be found walking down the street. They had believable hopes, dreams and insecurities with chemistry that was off the charts. Too, the plot kept my attention from page one to the very end. I could not put this book down, finishing it in one sitting. This was an exceptionally realistic read, it breaks my heart to read about the challenges our servicemen and women face when they come home but I'm so glad that such a thoughtful writer is helping to tell their stories. I received an advance reader copy from the author via Lorelei's Lit Lair.

Another amazing read from Laura Kaye

Shayna and Billy are both emotionally struggling and living only part of their lives in the present. When Shayna moves in with Billy it results in her long time crush lingering under the surface of a great new friendship they are building. Billy realizes Shayna is not the same girl he remembers when he hung out with his buddy when they were home on leave together. Both of these characters have huge walls around their hearts and enough guilt to disable even the most positive of people. I love how these two characters build a friendship and relationship that is based on a mutual love, care, and respect for each other. Of course they both have trouble being honest about how they feel about the other which results in them taking the long path to happiness. Billy and Shayna are funny, sweet and hotter than hot! Loved getting to check in with the other members of WFC and cannot wait for Sean and Dani’s book soon!

    Wonderfully Written!

I really enjoyed Fighting for What's His. It is an emotional read like the first book. Billy and Shayna both have things they need to work out and overcome in their lives. They make a great pairing though. They compliment each other nicely and make sense as a couple. Their story is sad at times, but it's a story about overcoming the past and creating a happy life. The concept was interesting and I found myself devouring the book in two sittings. Once again Laura Kaye does an excellent job of writing the characters and letting us see inside their heads and how their past has altered them. I can't wait to read more from this series!

    Enjoyed it. 4.5 Stars.

This is a “brother’s best friend” type trope, but it’s also a lot more than that as we continue to have the warrior fight club (and more of it in this installment) for helping former military members deal with the after effects of war and injuries. I’m this case Billy has burn injuries and survivor’s guilt, but Shayna has some survivor’s guilt of her own. Overall, I liked the friendship and slower burn build to this story. And the supporting cast was fun (especially Mo who also played a large role in book 1). I liked this one even better than the first in the series and look forward to the next installment!

    Loved Billy and Shayna!!!

OH EM GEE!!!! Fantastic!!!!! I loved Shayna and Billy's story! These two are broken in the saddest ways. And they are so perfect for each other. But Billy, being who and what he is, fights his attraction for Shayna almost to the point he loses her for good. This story made me feel so much! The pain, the friendship Billy has with his brothers in the WFC, and Shayna is finding with her co-workers, and some hilarious laugh-out-loud moments!!! I will never think of clowns in the same way!!! And the colorful, inventive swear words, ingenious!!! This is one of my favorite authors, and as usual, I was absolutely in love with this book from beginning to end!!!!
