    Not quite there

As a huge fan of the first book, I was quite disappointed with this one. I just couldn’t find the same kind of intensity in Andre Aciman’s characters in this as compared to its predecessor.

It has such a beautiful storyline, I couldn't stop reading it.

It is a good book but...

For the first book I was a bit frustrated by the not so happy ending, for this one I was a bit disapointed to have one.

    Finding true love

Certainly not what I had expected. I had assumed that the story would focus almost exclusively on Elio and Oliver, eventually reuniting the two lovers. I was not expecting the focus on each of the main characters and their individual journeys of discovery. Sami is found on the train to Rome by the young woman who would be everything to him his first wife was not. Elio is found by an older man in Paris who, though they share a love both know it won't last. They know early on that there is only one real love for Elio. Oliver has his wife and family in New England but has always felt unfulfilled in the relationship. He too recognizes that his only true love is the one he walked out on. Can Elio and Oliver rediscover not only each other, but also the love they first shared?
