This was a good book. Not the greatest, but not bad by any means. Since I don't have much experience reading adult books, I can't really say how creative or unique this story is, but to me it was unique. I enjoyed the story. It's full of mystery and emotion, and really has you feeling for the characters. This book kept my interest, but not so much that I couldn't put it down or to pull me back to it at every available moment. While I was into it during reading, it was easy to pass off for other things. The ending was a bit drawn out for my liking. I don't feel it should have dragged on as much as it did. I mean, I understand that things need to be wrapped up, but I just felt like it was too much story after the big reveal and I found myself wishing it would just end and I skimmed parts of the end as a result.

This story was well written. I connected with this story. I liked this story, its funny how someone can judge you because your situations may be different from theirs. I liked the Jake character even Simon. This a story that parents worry about every day. Shooting at a school, a death of a child. This book will have you with different emotions

    Not bad

This was a hard book to read. It's about a school shooting. The main character is Simon, a stay at home dad, and it goes back and forth from the present to the past. Jake is suspected of being a part of the school shooting and he is missing. Simon wavers between believing his son could be responsible and the impossibility of that being true. In the flashbacks, we get glimpses of the kid that Jake is and how he grew up. I found this book to be emotional and although I had trouble liking Simon (he was slightly neurotic), I liked the way he approached being a stay at home father. This whole book is full of issues; who stays home with the kids, kids with guns, the media glorifying killers, etc. I liked it but I didn't love it.
