With Friends Like These, Who Needs Enemies?

This book is proof that a debut novel can ROCK! Debra has brought us characters to love, hate, cheer for, laugh, cry and love with. Abby Murphy, pop star extraordinaire, learns the sad lesson that not everyone who surrounds her is really there for her. I mean, with 'friends' like those, who needs enemies, right? She needed to tell her mother to take a long walk off a short pier and Sean, her so-called boyfriend, well, I think she had just cause to go all Lorena Bobbit on him but hey, that's me. She definitely needed a better Fairy Godmother because the one she had was not working out so good. Better than a Fairy Godmother, Abby had Sophie - her assistant - and Danny. (Oh Danny boy. Yum!) You see, he was her bodyguard and Danny & Sophie are truly on Abby's side. Between the two of them, she got the help she needed to try and sort out who she could trust and kind of clean house, so to speak. In the meanwhile, she and Danny spent a lot of close personal time together, allowing their friendship to become something more. I loved watching their relationship grow and after all, Danny is just yummy! I see him kind of like Stefan from Vampire Diaries. *grin* Of course, I wanted to like this book because of how I feel about Debra but I'll tell you, it was a MAJOR page turner and that had nothing to do with how I feel about her and everything to do with Debra's talent as an author. Seriously there were times when I wanted to scream at the characters - especially Sean the dirtbag - and then other times I got all mushy and tender feeling. Sometimes I was on the edge of my seat, wondering what could possibly happen next and then - finally - some serious steam. (Wasn't sure it was gonna happen...;) Bottom line: Really, really good book from an author to watch! We have only scratched the surface here with her. I get the feeling she has some other story ideas for Nucci Securities - maybe a little Sophie and Connor action? So who should read this? For the 18 and older crowd I'd say and then you have no worries regarding maturity level or intimacy level. Anyone loving Contemporary Romance, especially Music based Romance or even Suspense/Action Romance lovers. Then be prepared for an easy, enjoyable read, cover to exciting cover! Rating: 5 Stars Heat: 3/5 Blush Worthy This book was provided to me as an ARC from the author for an honest review.
