  • Steamy tornado with fireworks

I have thoroughly enjoyed all 3 books in this series. Fireworks at Midnight was no exception. I only wish it was longer. The others were a little more humourous than this one but this particular novel had more suspense and a more natural flow for Dulcina (Sweets) and Mikal (her best friend's older brother) to fall in bed with each other. After all, they have known each other for most of their lives and Sweets has had a crush on Mikal since puberty. Mikal's feelings have been very much the same since he realized she wasn't a teenager anymore as well. However, he is an enforcement agent who could get her in trouble for her precognitive abilities she has not registered as having and her secret extracurricular activities at night in the big city. When Mikal finds out, she will be in a world of trouble. Mikal is so overprotective but in a way that makes him incredibly sexy and irresistible. Dulcina is so worried about the rumours of what the enforcement agency does to precogs though that she keeps avoiding the situations that result in them kissing as she sees them in advance. I love how he can use his air elemental powers in ways I had never considered. Very hot. I do wish this had been expanded into a longer novel though. There were so many elemenets introduced that could have made this more suspenseful and drawn out the hotness just a little tantalizingly longer without compromising the story.

  • Fireworks at Midnight

This is the third book in the Witch's Night Out series and the best part for me is that each story is individual, whilst following a familiar idea. This way means that you get a fresh story each time, whilst the world and character building can move on from where it last left off. This means that you end up with a rich and detailed world with characters that are three-dimensional and you can relate to, without having a massive back-story or information dump going on. Sweets and Mikal deserve to be together, they have crushed on each from afar long enough. The time is now to make a move - but who will move first, and what does fate have in store before they can? This is a quick and light-hearted read that will satisfy your need for a steamy coffee break book. Whilst it is the third in a series, I would say it could be read as a standalone, but reading the other two will definitely help give you a more enriched view. Definitely recommended for all fans of paranormal romance. * I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
