Evan Castle a rock star and her had a one night stand but as Molly sets out to start her job in Paris they remain friends. Will she see that they are meant to be together? • 3.5 stars rounded up

3.5 stars rounded up. When Molly and Evan have a drunken night and she gives her v-card to him, she's freaked out the next day when it becomes apparent that his groupies will not leave him alone, so she shuts the door on anything between them other than casual neighborly friendship. Now months later, she's broken up with her boring boyfriend, and Evan sees his chance at perhaps getting her to give into their obvious attraction. But Molly seems to have an erroneous idea about what kind of man he is, so it won't be easy to get her to give in. I mostly enjoyed Flip Beat and really liked Evan. And their chemistry was smokin' hot. This author knows her way around a steamy scene. The rest of the story fell a bit flat for me, though. I wanted more relationship development and I was really missing Evan's POV. It was all through Molly's POV in third person, which was to its detriment. And then there's Molly. She's the main reason I can't give this a resounding 4 stars. I'm leaving the official rating at 4 stars but in reality it's closer to 3/3.5, because Molly irritated me. She skewed really young to me and bored me to tears. I do like that her life coach helped her grow a little, but she didn't grow enough for my tastes. And what there was of her was just a bit immature and wishy-washy. Evan deserved a lot better, frankly. But, because I liked Evan a lot, and their chemistry is super sexy, I'll leave it at 3.5 stars rounded up.

  • Good Read

The book is a good romance read. The story is a well written read. The characters are good. The story has twists the you won't see coming. The story has heat, comedy, romance, and with a modern day fairy tale vibe going on. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Engaging story

Reviewed by Stephanie Chapman for Readers' Favorite Molly Ivers has landed an internship in Paris after she graduated from college. She finds herself torn between whether she should pursue a relationship with Evan Castle, the rock star bad boy she lost her virginity to, or focus on her trip to Paris and forego relationships altogether. One evening a mysterious woman gives her a card for Jean Luc, a life coach. For some unknown reason, he has chosen Molly to receive his services free of charge. The advice she receives opens her eyes to possibilities she had never thought of. Molly has a makeover, and Evan proves he has never forgotten their only encounter. Then along comes Nicholas Sullivan, a former professor that Molly had a secret crush on, and he asks her for a date. Evan becomes jealous and tells her to pick him or to forget about him. Does she choose Nicholas, the grounded stable professor that has his priorities straight? Should she pick Evan with his passion and fly by the night, easy-going life? Ultimately, does Molly choose to pursue a relationship with either Evan or Nicholas? Read this 5-star book to find out. Roxanne D. Howard writes a modern-day romance in Flip The Beat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Flip The Beat as it had a clear view of Molly's thoughts, constantly debating if she should fall into a relationship. The life coach caused her to learn more about herself and to be more confident in the choices she makes. Personally, I was rooting for her to choose Evan since I felt that the professor wasn't interested in anything more than her looks. The ending threw me for a loop, and I liked how Roxanne D. Howard threw in details that kept me engaged in the story. I have no doubt that adult readers will enjoy this witty romance story.
