  • 4.5 Fun & Adorkable Stars!

What a fun, refreshing start to The Natural History Series! Mallon's debut novel is an entertaining and adorkable romance between a quirky, aspiring paleontologist, and a sexy, rumbly-voiced astronomer. Calliope and Ralph had the most awkward meet cute that wasn't a meet at all, setting the tone for this hilarious and quirky story. Calliope has always wanted to be a paleontologist and has been so acutely focused on achieving all her dreams that she is more focused on things that are dead instead of living. That is until she meets Ralph, the sexy astronomer at the museum where they both work. He is so kind, selfless, and sexy. They have instant attraction and fiery chemistry. He is the calm to her fervor and he manages to make her see that finding love doesn't mean giving up your dreams. I loved both Calliope and Ralph, from their witty banter, to their awkward encounters, to their steamy passion, they are perfect together. There are so many laugh out loud moments, but many sweet and heartwarming moments as well. Their quirky family and friends are all intriguing and wonderful characters, adding to the fun and rounding out this story. This romcom was so endearing, it captured my heart and had me totally engaged from the very beginning. I can't wait for more from Mallon, and her new Natural History Series!

  • Flirtasaurus

Calliope is in love with dinosaurs and is so excited that she just landed the dream internship at the Natural History Museum working on the Trix and Monty project with hopes of landing a spot on her idols field team. Her first day of work does not start off perfectly when she gets stuck in the elevator but a sexy talking man keeps her company until he is forced to be evacuated from the museum. After thinking that he stood her up when they agreed to meet during the fire alarm she confronts him in the planetarium. Calliope did not expect an asteroid in the form of an astronomer to crash into her world and heart. Flirtasaurus is a workplace romantic comedy and the first novel by Erin Mallon. Flirtasaurus is chaotic and funny. Calliope was a little too insecure and chaotic for me to truly like her. I did have spots of the book where I laughed out loud, the dinosaur premise hooked me because of my son's obsession with them and I could imagine them as the Dino Diggers. I am on the fence with Erin Mallon as a writer but I do really enjoy her as a narrator. I think the reason I could not get into the book completely is that I have learned I am not a fan of first-person, single character point of view stories. *ARC was generously provided in exchange for my honest review*

  • Entertaining

4 star review Flirtasaurus (The Natural History Series #1) by Erin Mallon   I was intrigued by the blurb for this book (not to mention I loved the title Flirtasaurus) and having listened to numerous books narrated by Erin Mallon, I was intrigued to read and review this book as this is her debut novel. The characters were quirky, easy to relate too and I enjoyed the banter. In fact there were quite a few laugh out loud moments throughout and I enjoyed the journey Calliope and Ralph travelled to get their happily ever after. Calliope is a strong woman and I really liked her. The fact that she was focused on becoming a paleontologist and determined to succeed added to my enjoyment of the story. Ralph is totally swoon worthy and I loved how caring and supportive he is of Calliope. I appreciated that Ms. Mallon was not afraid to write about characters who were flawed and this added an additional layer to my enjoyments of the story.

  • A debut novel that will make you smile.

Flirtasaurus is the debut novel by author Erin Mallon. It’s a laugh-out-loud, hilarious, and down-right smexy. I just loved it so hard. You might be thinking… Erin Mallon- I know that name, and you’d be correct. She’s an audio star in her own right and has transitioned into romance writing and this book proves how talented she is. From the first snort-laugh inducing ‘meet-cute’ to the wonderfully happy ending, and every page in between, this book is filled with a quirky, well-imagined, and fun to read story. Calliope and Ralph make the most darling of a couple and I couldn’t read the story fast enough and was sorry when it came to an end. I can’t wait to read more from this fabulous new author. Pick up your copy today and give yourself a new obsession.

  • I really dig this one

loved this book. I like the quick paced dialogue, which reminded me of the Gilmore girls. I always love a good friends reference. The reason I bought the book is mainly because it was a romance with a paleontologist as a main character. I never saw that before. Dinosaurs are all the rage in my house with a 5 year old with a great love for all things dino. I had to use the urban dictionary quite a few times because of the modern language, but that didn’t bother me. I look forward to the new book Lovebug, but I admit I am a bit sad it won’t have Ralph and Calliope as main characters. But i’m sure they will make an appearance.
