    Not like other stepbrothers!

Kat Roberts has been all over the world, her father travels all the time, but for the first time, she’ll be able to stay put for a few years while she studies at Cambridge. She has never had any sort of real relationship, because she knew she’d have to move, but she has made a few friends already. While celebrating her nineteenth birthday at a local pub, Adonis walks in. Actually Tristan Kingsley who seems like God’s gift to womankind, at least that’s what everybody is whispering at the pub. Kat, against all odds, is so dazzled, that she just goes and talks to him, then kisses him. She is a virgin, not model material, but for some reason, she fascinates him. Neither character acts as expected, and I found that refreshing; Kat and Tristan appear very different but they are much more alike than they could have thought. And the blossoming romance feels like it should, with its sense of wonder, awe, and wild passion. As the subtitle suggests, Kat and Tristan will have to face considerable hurdles, and I cannot wait to see what happens next! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

    Fast Paced, Introspective and Steamy!

Forbidden, the first part of a three part serial by Lauren Smith, takes its readers on an emotional and sensual exploration. A cautious and solitary woman steps out of her comfort zone when tempted by a reckless bad boy. Past and present circumstances all point to the unobtainable, yet together the hero and heroine navigate their overpowering attraction knowing it is more than a casual fling. Fast paced, introspective and steamy Lauren Smith's writing is a voice like no other. Without a doubt book one of this author’s British Stepbrother serial will leave readers chomping at the bit for the next installment! *I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.* *This work is part one of three.*

    Not what I thought

The title doesn't do the book justice. I thought it would be more of a erotic romance. This is more of a romance novel. It's not an amazing book but for the price it's worth a try. Im looking forward to reading more from this author.

    Stay away

Tristan and Kat meet when she almost trips right into him. The sparks are sure flying as this book heats up rather fast. Kat is trying to finish school away from the States and has settled near her father. Tristan has his own father issues. His father pushes him to be something he does not want. Then further enrages him by telling him to stay away from Kat. Will he concede? Or will he follow the heat to the fire? Kat and Tristan have chemistry that nearly burns them alive. It is a book full of stolen and heated moments that are sure to fire up many a cold night for the reader. I found them fun and charming together. The book just moved at a pace that felt kind of slow for all the heat it put out.

    Delicious read!

Forbidden is the first book in Lauren Smith’s new series – Her British Stepbrother, and it’s delicious. The basics: After her parents divorced, her father, who moved a lot because of business, raised Kat Roberts. Between their lifestyle and the fact that her mom ran out on them, Kat grew to have trust issues. She threw herself into her studies and lived a sheltered, safe life. One without adventure. The action begins when Kat is out celebrating her nineteenth birthday clubbing with friends in Cambridge. She’s trying out a bucket list of sorts. This, coupled with a little alcohol, inspires her to…. Let’s just say she makes a big impression on a swarthy, sex-God, Brit. The young American he meets at the pub one-night intrigues self-professed womanizer, Tristan Kingsley. This girl is different. Sensing her loneliness, appreciative of her smarts, and delighted by her naivety, he’s hooked. He must have this woman. But, he’s more than just smitten and is driven to pursue this incredible creature. My thoughts: I don’t typically read pure romance. I prefer a little intrigue and suspense thrown in the mix. But that’s me. However, I found myself turning pages of Forbidden like a good mystery and this was most surprising because you kind of know where this story is going based on the title. I thought that would bother me and take me out of the story, but it didn’t. The author nailed the characters, doing justice to their personalities, desires, and obstacles in well-written prose that made them believable. The story had a brisk pace that kept me up late at night as it carried me along. By the midpoint I was losing sleep with this steamy novel as Tristan was saying and doing whatever was necessary to win Kat over. Ufdah! I enjoyed this book immensely, was down right bummed when it ended and have already ordered the next two in the series.
