  • Not Your Typical Vampire Story

I purchased this book after finding the author from the (now cancelled) Apollycon list. The fact that she was a fellow Marylander encouraged me to buy the physical book. My review is voluntary. Triggers: a few bloody parts, murder, assault **spoilers** Lucien, vampire. Sad and lonely after the murder of his wife and daughter. He lives his life filled with guilt. Samantha, single mom. Working her way to a nursing degree. Olivia, Samantha's daughter. She "sees" Lucien from the beginning. This isn't your typical vampire story. (No sparkles here or constant murder and blood letting) Its almost as if the vampire part is secondary. There are a few brief sexy time descriptions but not overly drawn out. Samantha and Lucien meet, he becomes obsessed with her happy outlook on life. He wants to capture that feeling from her before killing her. But Lucien meets Olivia. She gets him right away and he feels a bond with her he hasnt had with a child since his own died. When Lucien realizes Samantha is Olivia's mom, he changes his mind on killing her. They date. They fall in love. He introduces her to his other family. Some bad vampires from his past attack Samantha and Olivia. The truth of who he is comes out. HEA.
