  • Girl's Guide to Witchcraft

While it is a kind of a fun read, I found it rather slow in places. For example there was a lot of time spent describing actual cooking recipes - not Witchcraft spells or potions, but actual food recipes that I personally found tedious and time consuming. I also felt that with a book title being what it was, that there would have been a great deal more of the storyline centered around that them, but I'm guessing that a good 50% of the book really had nothing to do with Witchcraft whatsoever. So I found that rather disappointing.

  • Enjoyable Read

A Girls' Guide To Witchcraft by Mindy Klasky was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Jane Madison, a young 20 something (I think, I can't remember exactly how old she is) Librarian finally moves out on her own. When she heads into the basement, she stumbles upon something she never would have expected; a library of her own filled with books on witchcraft. What follows is a sometimes funny, sometimes heart breaking read of a young women's journey after discovering she may in fact be a witch. I have to admit that I enjoyed every minute. I have given this 4 stars for only two reasons. The first, is that there were still some glaring editing mistakes, so I think another go round with an editor would be highly beneficial. But, let me state that even though an editor is needed, the mistakes do not take away from the book and are not overwhelming. Just a few here and there that I happened to notice. The second reason, is that while I enjoyed Jane's romantic interludes, I do wish that there was more about the witchcraft. Without giving away spoilers, I felt that the story revolved too much around her love life and not about the witchcraft. I would have also liked it if there had been more background on Jane and how she has the powers she does. But, since I know that this is a serial, I'm assuming that this is touched upon in future books. Otherwise, as stated, I really enjoyed this series and will get around to reading the rest of it. I have to admit that I am not ITCHING to read the next ones, but that is simply because I have to buy them :) Which I will, but just not at this particular moment in time. I loved all the characters, and I can't wait to see them again in the future installments.

  • Entertaining

At one point, I was getting annoyed with the character and her blind ideas but in the end she found herself. An enjoyable read.
