    HI STORY MAKE GOOD FICTION

This was an interesting tale from the turn of the last century, loosely based on a series of actual historical events. The sisters Kopp seemed to live outside the daily routines and expectations of other young women their ages, and Constance Kopp in particular seemed unable to imagine fitting in, yet demonstrated so much growth and benefit from functioning outside the roles usually ascribed to single women in their mid-thirties. It was interesting to read how she went about defending her family and securing legal protection, in an era where only men were usually allowed to assume those roles.

An interesting story but a boring read

Based on a true story in my native New Jersey, I began reading this book with great interest. Unfortunately while the story itself is a good one, I found the read very plodding. Wanting to know the resolution of the story, I kept reading, although I admit to skipping through many pages. I was very disappointed that what I hoped would be a good read was boring at best and tedious at worst.

    Transcends the Genre

Absolutely terrific. Manages to satisfy those who love a good genre mystery as well as those who love a good literary novel, without sacrificing anything for either camp. There were even unexpected twists and turns which wrung a few tears from me (something almost entirely unheard of when reading your average mystery). I'm always a little worried when I embark upon a book that has received such high praise (surely it's overrated) but this lived up to the hype and then some. A real winner.

    Delightful read

I really enjoyed this book! I quite enjoyed Ms. Stewart's style of writing ...her development of characters and the description of life in the early 1900's for a woman! I have to admit ...I had some preconceived feelings about this book; well that would teach me not to read everything I come across. This book was delightful to read and I am anticipating reading her second book Lady Copy Makes Trouble

    Girl waits with gun

Hard to get through. Difficult to understand the situation and importance of the relationship between the characters. I couldn't see myself wanting to read other titles by the author
