    A True Page Turner

I don’t enjoy realistic novels. I can’t stand stories that take place in the real world with real people with real problems. I can look out my window and see that. This novel, however, was absolutely enthralling. When I woke up I would instantly think to myself I can find out what happens next since I’m awake! The characters were compelling, the events were engaging, the twists were surprising and entertaining, and I genuinely enjoyed watching the worst of the bunch get his comeuppance. While I could nitpick a few small details, I do have some larger complaints. The first chapter seemed a tad unnecessary and got lost in my mind as the book carried on and the second chapter became hard to follow as all the characters were introduced. I even found myself having to retrace who was who as I read. However, after that I was treated to a game of intrigue and unleashed emotional/relationship/family drama. Never did this book drag in pacing or seem to deviate from a chain of character action and reaction. Each moment had its place. And it never fixated on the sex, allowing it to naturally flow as another important action between characters. If you read this book I guarantee you’ll get your money’s worth. It’s a product of true writing skill to the point where its quality seems almost intangible. It’s just good! And what more needs to be said?

The premise was tempting, as most are, but the story telling paid off. The characters were real and the situation they all placed themselves in seemed real. Not all couples who have a poker night (This was Texas Hold 'em) and lots of Merlot will come up with the idea of switching partners, but it could happen (and probably does more than one would think). Anyway, the problems that arise, and tensions, show how well the Keeley's are familiar with people and with writing about them. The eroticism fits in the story, and the story would work with or without the sexual details, but this story works, and I enjoy it. One should not read this if one blushes too easily.
