    Good read

First book ive read from Harris except the Sookie Stackhouse books and I enjoyed it. Not too simple but not over convoluted with too much detail.

    Already sucked in

Well just like that I'm hooked again. I really liked the sookie stackhouse series and I just tried this book on a whim. (I have a thing for strong female characters and suspense) Harper and her brother travel across country using her gift/curse to locate bodies and even determine the cause of death of those who have died. Not everyone appreciates her skill especially after they hire and what she sees opens up the door to covered secrets and disappointment. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book. Hopefully more character development and more background into Harper's family.

    Harper connelly mystery 1

This was a story with a very interesting concept and an exciting feel to it, in the beginning. At first I liked the subtlety of the exhibition of who the characters are and the feel of their setting. I just thought that as the book went on, it kind of "dried out". The way it was written turned out to be a little insipid to me, kind of dull. There were parts of dialogue and reasoning that didn't seem very clearly written or probable. Then there was the mystery its self, just unlikely and sort of pieced together haphazardly, and the way the characters all just spill the beans on their motives the very moment they know their jig is up... there has to be another way to resolve the mysteries of the story, right? I'm guessing this was an earlier work of Harris, because she definitely has better work out there.
