Great Romp with two legged and four legged heroes

(4.5)What a great romp. I love dogs I love our military. Dale combines them both with some mystery, suspense and a little romance. Nothing is over the top and all is enjoyable. Kona hooked my heart and held on tight! Sorry Greyson, but hey you have Jessica. I loved the family bond Greyson has with his grandparents, they made me smile. There is a surprising twist that was awesome, and so sad. Thank you for the arc and helping me to take my mind elsewhere. I freely volunteer my thoughts an opinions, unsolicited.

    Beautiful story

Book 9 in the K9 Files series and another triumph for Dale Mayer. I have loved all these books, they are heart warming with plenty of action and gentle romance. Grayson Morganstein had received life changing injuries whilst on a mission with his military unit, he had fought back to full health but his life was now at a crossroads, He was offered a chance to work with the War Dogs Division of the military and because of his love of dogs Grayson jumped at the chance. A number of war dogs that were to be retired had disappeared and the War Dogs Division were determined that every one of them would be found. Grayson's task was to find a beautiful Malinois Shepherd cross named Kona, who had disappeared in Hawaii where coincidentally, Grayson's grandparents lived. Jessica had been married but when she was pregnant and her husband was insisting that she had an abortion she left. Jessica now has a much loved son Danny but an out of the blue message to say that George now wanted Danny, a non accidental crash into her car, silent phone calls and a prowler made Jessica frightened for her life and that of her young son. Why did George now want Danny ? it didn't make sense but she was to have two protectors Grayson and Kona. This is a beautiful story of a dogs devotion to a young boy and the gentle love between his mother and their rescuer, it also has a surprising twist. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

    Love this story

Greyson is sent to Hawaii to find a missing K 9. His search not only brings him to in touch with his grandparents who raised him but a young single mother with an 18 month old son. Kona, the K 9 has taken up the job of protecting them from threats. A great mystery, great characters and great story.

    Oh, Yeah!

Oh Yeah! This is a good one, well, all of the K-9 Files are good, but I really liked this one! I highly recommend reading this story and the entire series! Both the war dog, Kona, and Greyson are heroes in this exciting story. Even beautiful Hawaii can have unsavory thugs looking to cause trouble and attempt to take what isn’t theirs to take. They seem unafraid of the local police, but fail to see the threat to their nefarious actions in the form of one former military man watching and waiting. I appreciate Greyson’s tender love and affection for his grandparents who raised him after his parents died. They all have an unconditional love for each other despite Greyson’s attempt to shield them from the injuries he sustained while deployed and his lengthy recovery and rehabilitation he forced himself to suffer through without their help. Greyson’s love of animals includes helping his grandfather adopt his new four-legged buddy and the concern he has for Kona, her health and well-being. I love Greyson’s immediate dedication in tracking down and finding Kona. He quickly realizes that the dog is guarding Jessica and her small son, Danny outside their home. Instead of seeing a dangerous war dog on the loose, Greyson sees a dog that is obviously protecting and standing guard over Jessica and Danny as the unknown, mysterious men conduct numerous determined attempts to gain entry to Jessica’s home and take her son. Kona is quite the canine heroine in her own right, naturally loving and guarding little Danny without having to be ordered to. During these intense episodes of attempted break-ins and chasing bad guys, Greyson and Jessica find an attraction for each other that neither expected. They have a mutual need to be together along with Danny and Kona as part of their little family. This story is full of action, suspense and all the feels. You’re going to love this heartwarming story. It’s one of those that once you start reading, you’ll be immersed and won’t surface until the end!

Greyson goes to Hawaii for more than a missing K-9

Greyson's grandparents had retired in Hawaii and he hasn't seen them since before his injury while a Navy Seal. They wanted to come to his side but he discouraged them while he trying to heal. Now he wanted to see his only family and the trip to Hawaii to search for a missing war dog seemed perfect. The grandparents were great, the k-9 was indeed missing. Kona had been sent to Hawaii by mistake and disappeared from the local rescue center. The only clue was an car accident which happened near the center and didn't appear to include a dog. Greyson took every tiny clue and searched as only a experienced man could do. Little by little he pieced the picture together with patience and perseverance. It seemed highly unlikely this dog still in a watchful mode but I'll leave it at that. Did he escape or was he taken? No one could give any hints one way or another. Jessica and her son Danny were involved in a mystery which I'll leave at that too. I loved the characters and they were perfect for this scenario. I really enjoyed the progression of this search as Greyson attempted to solve the problem and bring it to a satisfying conclusion. I will read this book again! The epilogue hints at a future book with Rowan and Hershey (Herold Guildford II) which sounds like another winner!
