    Disappointing

This was a disappointing read. the story was thin and ending predictable. The characters were not well developed or interesting. My recommendation to pass on this one.

    Excellent

This book had all the usual things that I like in a well-written murder mystery, but ya wanna know what was one of my favourite things about it? Not once did Clark have to make her plot work by having her protagonist do something hopelessly stupid or mind-numbingly naive. Any slightly questionable decisions and actions by Rachel are believable, in-character, and probably what you'd hope you had the guts to do in similar circumstances. Well done, and recommended. I'm just cuing up the next one, "guilt by Degrees", and have every hope and expectation that it'll be at least as good as "Guilt by Association" has been.

    Unexpectedly Good

What a surprise! I didn’t know what to expect from Marcia Clark’s (yes, “that” Marcia Clark) first novel. But I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. There’s a good mystery. There are likable characters. There’s fun, snarky, and self-deprecating humor. There’s very little actual courtroom drama, everything happens outside the courtroom in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this read, and when I finished it, I moved right on to the next one, which is a rarity for me. I combined reading with listening to the audiobook, which is narrated extremely well by January Lavoy. I highly recommend this one for anyone who enjoys legal thrillers. Kept me reading

Not one of the best I have read but I liked it enough to keep reading and to read another Rachel Knight book. So, if you would like a new series, this one might be for you! I must admit to not knowing how all the pieces fit together.
